Dr. Amarin Alexander returns in November with another facility-based coding webinar. His August webinar, “IRE Inpatient Determinations: Case Studies” was a huge success with great reviews on our exit survey.  If you weren’t able to attend, you can find it on our webinar page and watch it on demand.

Inpatient coding for DRGs is based on diagnosis coding. Some coding summaries can raise red flags with payers, even before looking at the medical record documentation. This webinar will detail what Present on Admission (POA) conditions invite scrutiny, why a short Length of Stay (LOS) with one Major Complication and Comorbidity (MCC) might raise a red flag and why payers will review malignancy as a secondary diagnosis. This webinar will use case examples and poll questions to illustrate ICD-10-CM concepts.

After the webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Understand what may be perceived as coding errors in a coding summary
  • Analyze coding summaries as they are interpreted by a payor
  • Predict the potential impact of submitted codes on quality metrics
