CPT Coding for Bronchoscopy Procedures | Webinar

"Breathe in, Breathe out": CPT Coding for Bronchoscopy Procedures

Recorded May 18, 2022

BAL, EBUS, TBB, TBNA, EBB and even navigation!  Not sure what all these acronyms are about?

Special guest Shannon McCall of HCPro joins us once again for a CPT® focused webinar on all things bronchoscopy! This webinar will describe coding for bronchoscopy, with and without biopsy, with ultrasound guidance, and with procedures. It includes coding  by the number of lobes visualized for certain procedures. There are three case studies to illustrate the coding rules for these procedures.

Bulleted content agenda:

  • Lung anatomy
  • Bronchial washings/brushings
  • Bronchial alveolar lavage (BAL)
  • “Navigational” bronchoscopy
  • Endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS)
  • Endobronchial valves

After the presentation participants will be able to:

  • Identify relevant anatomy in the lungs and associated lymph nodes.
  • Distinguish between transbronchial and endobronchial biopsies.
  • Identify proper coding in CPT for various bronchoscopy procedures.

At the end of the presentation Shannon will provide information about resources available from HCPro. If you are interested in hearing about those resources, please plan to stay on the call an additional 15 to 20 minutes.

Audit tool for Modifier 25

Reasonable coders and practitioners can and do disagree about when a separate E/M service is warranted on the day of a minor procedure. This audit tool for modifier 25 will help determine if a separate E/M service should be reported. Using it consistently will help practices be reliable in their determinations and provide support in payer audits. Sign up for our monthly newsletter to download the reference sheet.
