Please note: Registration closes at 12:00 pm the day before the event. If you miss the registration deadline, you can watch on-demand following the event.

Dr. Oubre will provide a practical, clinically grounded review of myocardial injury and myocardial infarction through the lens of accurate documentation and compliant coding. Using the Fourth Universal Definition of Myocardial Infarction as a foundation, the session will walk attendees through coronary anatomy, plaque rupture physiology, troponin interpretation, and the critical distinctions between injury, ischemia, and infarction. Common areas of confusion will be clarified including Type 1 versus Type 2 myocardial infarctions, demand ischemia, and STEMI versus NSTEMI. The focus throughout is on translating provider documentation into correct ICD-10-CM code assignment while avoiding pitfalls that can impact quality metrics and reimbursement.

After the webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Differentiate myocardial injury, myocardial ischemia, and myocardial infarction
  • Accurately identify myocardial infarction Types 1 and 2.
  • Identify common documentation and coding pitfalls in cardiology cases.
