Auditing an individual record is one part of conducting an internal or external audit. Before starting, a coding auditor needs to know the type of audit and what prompted it. The auditor needs to research the coding principles and rules related to the topic. The audit process itself involves record selection and the development and deployment of an audit tool specific to the circumstances. The two final steps in the audit are writing the report and determining the internal and external response and changes based on the findings. These two presentations by our three expert guest presenters will cover E/M audits, surgical procedures and diagnostic tests.
